  1. It's already illegal to make a straw purchase, it's already illegal to make a private sale across state lines, it's already illegal for a felon to posses a firearm, it's already illegal for a mentally imcompetent person to possees a firearm, it's already illegal (with some exceptions) for a minor to posses a firearm, it's already illegal to posses firearms on school (k-12) property, assault is already illegal, murder is already illegal. One more law, that would be uneforcable, is going to make a difference to criminals? I think not, all it would do is place more of a burden on law-abiding citizens.

  3. No, J Bird, there isn't. A person purchasing a firearm from a FFL must fill out a form 4473 that the dealer uses for the NICS check. The form is then filed in the dealers bound book. No information about the firearm is given to the gov't. There is no "gun registration" in Indiana.
    What Rob Arnold says the sheriff is advocating is against the state pre-emption law that says local political subdivisions may not create their own regulations regarding firearms.

  9. The Conway Observatory costs the county nothing. It was built by and paid for with donations and volunteers. It is staffed by the Calumet Astronomical Society who also pay for the maintenance and upkeep.
