- I am very sorry to hear this. I have been out of the region for 40 years, but my father knew the Bakkers, and I remember them as a wonderful and generous family. They gave my father a job when he was on strike from Sinclair. I have fond memories of going to their business when they were in East Chicago. May God bless them for all they did for the community.
