  1. Grass clippings are mostly water. Why pay for dumping water at the landfill at $40+ per ton? Whenever I have purchased a lawnmower I took the grass catcher off and never put it on again. Grasscycle please.

  2. Boy am I tired of whiners in Portage about the trash pickup. Since the new ordinance too effect I have literally recycled more than I have sent to the costly landfill. With other residents doing the same the city has already realized the monetary benefits. Portage residents have had it too easy in the past. Other communities have done the sensible thing and restricted bulk pickup long ago. One guy in Portage put out broken up concrete at the curb from his driveway he had replaced. It cost the city more to pick it up than he was paying in a year's property taxes. Small construction companies have put their refuse out with their residential trash for years. Residential trash pickup is meant to be what it is. Stop whining and follow the ordinance. Eventually Portage will be a cleaner place.

  3. If by the Portage Community Theater you mean the one that was playing at the Yacht Club no thanks. "Lewd and Crude" should have been the name of the last production we saw there.

  4. When only police can carry then only the police and criminals will have guns. Are you going to wait for the police to get there to protect you? If you outlaw guns only the criminals will have them. Illinois has the strongest gun control laws in the nation. Nearly a murder a day there. I don't think it has helped to have stronger gun laws in Illinoyed.

  5. Sorry it happened to you. A lot of bad things happened after that war. It was LBJs war. Thank God you came back. A lot of people's minds were screwed up then and still today.

    Thanks for your service.

  7. The Oprisko to Joyce Russell hotline has been busy lately. How about some more stories on the Opriskos not paying their saloon help. Could be federal offences there. Probably need a new reporter to do that though.

  10. Ok, we have been paying more in landfill fees than Valpo, Lake Station, and Hobart combined since they moved to automation. Is that better?
