  2. I am educator in this great state and my opinion of common core is this. I have had to do alot of research and planning for when these standards take effect and from what I can see they allow a teacher to go much deeped into different concepts. Our Indiana State Standards are very broad and don't provide alot of chance to explain and understand topics before you have to move on to another one. There are also so many of the current standards that if would take a student 2 years at each grade level to fully understand them. While I do understand the feeling that the common core assume that every student in every state will be on the same page at all times and this this is difficult, what is shows me is that when i get a student who is from IL, I will atleast know that they have been exposed t the standard. Currently it is quite different. I also understand that we as teachers are accused of teacher to the test and on some levels this is true, but the standards are a guideline for what a student should be learning, your creativity as a teacher comes from the lessons you develop and the differentiation you put into it.

  5. I just think that this is going to turn out to be really expensive. Also, wouldn't it be declared unconstitutional in Indiana also? Shouldn't we be trying to learn from what happens to other states?

  6. I don't think many of you realize just how convoluted the A-F systme is. it is not as simple as a normal grade on a student's report card. Many of the poeple who came up with the system can't even explain it. Take a look and the indiana DOE website. do a littlr research on it. Here is a link to the DOE accountablilty section.   7. I have a question. I am no expert, but is the testimony of the neighbor really needed? From what I understand she did not see anything, so how can she possibly be able to say it was Dustin? Wouldn't this just allow the defense to poke holes in the case? I mean, if he did it than I would want him to be prosecuted, but wouldn't you want to lead with something a little more solid that something the neighbor says she heard? Did we learn nothing from Casey Anthony?
