  1. How sickening and disturbing a thought. Is it not enough that we must pay a tax to groups such as the NRA and other Gun rights groups every year? Why didn't you advocate a new tax on Cigarettes to pay for mental illness? Why not Alcohol? Why not a new tax on any Hollywood movie that has more than a "G" rating? Wouldn't those make more sense? Wouldn't those generate more income for the Mentally needy? No? I'm sorry.. Did I just gore one of YOUR Oxen there?

You hear all teh time about the gun lobby this, the gun lobby that, the NRA spends tens of millions of dollars every year and more than that every election cycle "influencing" politicians and elections..
Do you want to know what is TRULY Obscene about that? The TRULY Obscene part of that is the fact that I, and millions of other Americans have to pay a tax to the NRA, pay a tax to gun rights groups, pay a tax to lawyers, for no other reason than to CONSTANTLY protect a right of the People as specifically enumerated in the Constitution of the United States.
It's Obscene that without that tax to the NRA, Legal defense funds, gun advocacy and gun rights groups that the Government would have run roughshod ALL over the Constitution of the United States. It's Obscene that the 2nd amendment is the ONLY right specifically enumerated under the Constitution that must be CONSTANTLY defended with millions upon millions of dollars every single year.
If you truly believe that society has moved beyond the need for weapons to protect themselves from evil or from the government.. there is an avenue for remedy. It's called the Constituitional Amendment Process. The politicians are more then free to start up the process of Amending the Constitution to repeal/revoke/rewrite the 2nd Amendment. If this is what "everybody" wants. Go for it. Be my guest. Wallow in your failure. But it's time that someone puts a stop to the OBSCENE process of simply sidestepping and ignoring the Constitution of the United States because you CAN'T exercise your will over the people any other way.

  2. Why would it stop? If the Sheriff was conducting an investigation it was a criminal matter and that doesn't stop merely because the person is no longer employed at the place/business/office in question.

  3. And yet.. You did nothing to address a single fact, refute a single point or point out a single error in thought.. Other than to resort to personal attacks..

In other words.. Your surrender on this subject is accepted.

  4. Just curious why people keep pushing that fallacy. The notion that tax cuts DECREASE money into the coffers whatever entity issued them.

When have tax cuts, and tax cuts alone, cuased a year over year net DECREASE in fund collections?

What this fallacy of thought relies upon is that the INCREASE in revenue would have been even HIGHER if the taxes merely remained the same or increased.. But this ignores the fact that that increase in revenue was generated by the increased economic activity that the tax cuts brought on.
And to take said fallacy even further is that these same people then refer to that fallacious, inaccurate, unprovable difference as a "Cost" to the state or taxing entity.

But then this isn't surprising because these are also the same people whos economic prowess has them refering to reducing the rate of INCREASE of something from a 7% increase to a 6.5% increase as a "Draconian cut in funding"..

  5. The code stated and referenced has to do with meetings, the holding of meetings, how their held, who should be notified and how. Not the emergency removal of a member of an administration or the placing of people on Administrative leave. The specifics of THAT are quite different than simply posting and holding a meeting and are most likley outlined in the Superintendents contract. And while I can't find the public posting of her specific contract I did find a recent one for another school corp. Super. I can't imagine that these deviate too far from one another in their specifics and are a standard form affair with the only changes being compensation rates and the like.

  6. HanoverTaxpayer..
Well that's just it. We don't know yet. And there are times that you are allowed to remove such a person without first conducting a meeting. A person willfully engaged in illegal acts or part of an investigateion into illegal acts.. Assume for a minute that this was all started by allegations of sexual impropriety with minors.. THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M SAYING IS HAPPENING.. JUST AN EXAMPLE..
Do you think that the board, vis a vis the law, would have to wait.. Announce a public meeting.. send out notices.. Have said meeting a week from next tuesday or the next available Tuesday after a holiday weekend to remove said person from their position pending a full investigation?
No. that would be absurd. Sorry. Parents of minor student X, Y and Z.. We had information that this person was engaged in sexual activity with the children.. We would have loved to have removed her but Indiana protocol states that we first had to convey a meeting and hold a vote..
No. That would never happen. And it's not just something as evil as that that would have to take place. ANYTHING that would/could raise suspicion of acts either illegal or contrary to the terms of the contract could be used to immediately remove such a person from their job. And put them on PAID administrative leave. And that's the key. PAID administrative leave. That's why they have it. You put people on PAID administrative leave whenever there is an investigation into anything that the person involved may be directly involved in or be too close to.
They do it with teachers, firemen, Policemen all the time. All of these people are protected by contract. All of these people have rights that can not be violated. However.. At the first sign of impropriety or even something that comes up under the regular call of duty, an office involved in a justified shooting comes to mind, these people can and are usually placed on PAID administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
There is nothing nefarious, sneaky, underhanded, or non-transparent about it. It is merely the VERY FIRST step in any investigation into certain matters.

  7. Actually they can. And it appears that they did. The board has remedies available to it that they can act upon if the needs arise. Which is why this is a "paid administrative leave".. She hasn't been terminated. She hasn't been removed. She's on "Paid administrative leave".. Which means she still collects a paycheck but has been effectively benched pending investigation/fact finding/issue sorting/etc. After said investigation is complete THEN they board can convene.. Vote.. and take permanent actions if they're warranted.
