  1. When the inevitable comes I hope someone protects us taxpayers from the rehiring of the hundreds of politically connected slackers previously terminated. I can see the pols having a field day padding the payrolls with friends and relatives unable to find a real job.

  2. Another example of biased reporting by Mr. Carden . This amendment was political theater and would have no impact on the well being of the middle class. The middle class is being used by the liberals as the excuse to raise taxes for more wasteful spending. Mr Carden is the liberals tool and nothing more. He is a very poor reporter.

  4. As for the increase in the use of food pantries there are two reasons you failed to mention. One is the entitlement culture where many people feel they have the right to free everything, including food. The other is people who put alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, jewelry and tattoos ahead of feeding themselves and their children. Oh , I forgot the widescreen televisions and video games. I know several people in both categories. As for jobs, the people being hired need to have some education and motivation. Next time the Times has a jobs fair try recruiting at a food bank or soup kitchen and see how this works out. The education and work ethic necessary for good employees needs to start at a young age and it sure isn't happening. The jobs today require skill and ambition and too many people have neither. So while we always need more job openings we must have the right people to fill them.
