- That's because the rest of the state is farmland, not cities. Farmland is taxed at a rate a lot lower than housing. Lake and Marion are the two biggest counties for population and housing. Everyone in the state pays the same rate for their houses.

- You do realize that if the state board of accounts didn't keep finding stuff wrong, they wouldn't have a job. I have personally seen the SBOA say something one year and turn around the next year and say exactly the opposite (the way it was originally) the next.
