  1. No surprising coming from any team in the Chicagoland region, especially where they all think they are number one in the South Suburbs. And we wonder why young people are the way they are today. Great example Coach.

  2. Ladies and gentlemen read the first line of the article. It says it happened AT SCHOOL. Not at home, not after school hours. It further goes onto to state that a student alerted school officials to the incident. The school is there to teach the students and keep them safe while under their supervision. The problem isn't the school, the problem is society today. Also, from the looks of these comments it appears that a lot of readers feel that the students are entitled to everything.

When you are on school property you have no expectation of privacy especially after reviewing and signing for the handbook by both the parents and students.

Remember the good old days when the worst thing you did was pass a note around class and hope the teacher didn't see it?

  3. I see a lot of people are assuming it was a money grab. Do you think that way because you got a speeding ticket or moving violation in the past? I find that everyone who complains about police issuing tickets are mad because they regularly break the traffic laws. Anyways, enough on that. If it was a money grab wouldn't they have issued at least 48 tickets since they conducted 48 traffic stops? They issued 14 tickets total. Secondly on the response regarding that no arrests for violence were made, What do you think drug arrests are. A high percentage of drug users commit violet crimes in order to support their habit. So if you arrest someone for breaking the law by having drugs or paraphenalia on them are you taking a potential violent criminal off of the streets? Maybe? Also, out of all of the commenters how many of you actually live in that area.

Also if the grant was Ridge road from Cline to Colfax where do you think they were working? THE MANSARDS. How do would be criminals from out of town get to the Mansards? I-80/94 to Cline to Ridge then east towards Colfax.

  5. For clarification it is the State of Indiana's responsibility to put up crossing gates at the railroad crossing. The State determines where they go not the railroad. Once the gates are up it is the railroads responsibility to maintain the gates and make sure they are working and if they are then damaged the railroad has to pay to replace them.

Also, the crossing lays in unincorporated Lake County. Which is why the Lake County Sheriff's department handled the investigation. Either way I happen to agree that this crossing needs gates. Therefore those of you who live in the area need to each send a letter to your state representative and have him appropriate the $ with the Indiana Department of Transportation.

  9. First off it is not Lake county politics since he was charged in Federal court in Hammond. The same Federal court getting rid of all the dirty politicians in Lake County. Secondly, he signed and agreed that he is guilty as charged. Thirdly, the reason prosecutors or in this case U.S. Attorneys offer plea deals is to keep the cost down. You know the taxes you Federal taxes you pay.
