Pulled this gem off the Q&A section of the RDA website. Funny, I don't see anything about bailing out elected officials that refuse to put any effort into bettering their own city. Handouts aren't the only options available to Gary. RDA is starting to look a lot like the Calumet Township checkbook!

What are RDA funds used for?
The Legislature delineated four specific areas:

a.Expansion of the Gary Chicago Airport
b.Extension of the South Shore commuter service
c.Redevelopment of the Lake Michigan shoreline
d.Regional Bus Authority
In addition, the statute allows the RDA to also assist with other regional economic development efforts.
