- The consolation to all this apparently is what you post in facebook will probably could back to haunt years later when you apply for a position of trust. Since employers now apparently scan facebook to get a better understanding of they people they are about to employ. I know I'd hire one of them.

- I remember back in August of 1981, the Post Tribune ran a story about an individual who was being released from prison and how he was completely reformed and a changed man who should be given a second chance. Several days after his release he committed a bank robbery in Gary and on his way out the back door he was confronted by a Gary police officer who responded to the bank alarm. He not only shot the police officer who was just a couple days from retirement but after shooting him went back and executed him while he was laying on the ground bleeding from his gunshot wound. Rufus Averhart was also sentenced to death and his sentence commuted as well. Sorry actions have consequences. You take a life as brutally as Ruth Pelke's, a helpless 78 year old, just trying to do good and you forfeit your right to ever live with society again. If Paula Cooper is doing good in prison, leave her there.

- I don;t condone what Philpot did, especially since the money should have been shared by all employees in his office that were assigned to work the program, however as I recall the minute the County Attorney informed Philpot that he was not entitled to the money he returned it with interest. Additionally I remember reading something about the county appointed attorney advised him he was entitled to the money. Ethically morally and probably as an attorney professionally he should have known better and should be disciplined for it, but criminally I wonder. After all I believe the federal investigation didn't start until after he returned the money. In regards to a tainted jury pool, your opinion columns do more to taint peoples opinions than anything else, if he thinks a change of venue would help isn't he entitled to the same considerations as anyone else?
