  1. This is unbelieveable! The school board members, with the exception of Mrs. Malchow, have made a mockery of the Lake Central School Corporation. The teachers, support staff and more importantly, the community at large should be up in arms about this. Moral is at an all time low within this corporation.

  2. I agree that it would have been nice to hear it from LCTA instead of reading it in the paper. In a nutshell, poor leadership on the side of the Teachers Union. Lake Central teachers have not had a raise in 3 years and now their salary has been frozen with little hope of ever being able to raise it. I think that the amount that the insurance went up is reasonable, it was just the fact that teachers had to read about it in the paper instead of being informed by the Union. The Union that they pay dues to by the way!

  3. I agree that school staff should not be immune from what is happening in every sector around the country and I have not seen one comment on this board saying that they should be immune. Not one Lake Central employee or the Union have demanded a raise in salary because of this raise in insurance premiums!

  4. Instead of all the back and forth that will be going on this board about test scores of charter schools vs public schools it would be great if The Times did a comparison article. Charter Schools as compared to Public Schools test scores, money spent, retention rate of students,etc...... An actual "IN DEPTH" article!!!

  5. I found this interesting. Tony Bennett just up and changed his title from "Superintendent of Public Instruction" to "Superintendent of Department of Education" or at least he changed the sign above his office door to read this way. Guess he isn't all that interested in "Public Education" after all.

  7. Top notch athlete, student, and more importantly, top notch young man. Hardworking and respectful to boot. Keep up the hard work Ike!

  8. @joind2 - also ironic that someone who basically destroyed public education in Indiana is now going to be the President of a State University. Maybe he won't "misplace" 300 million of Purdue's money like he did the State of Indiana!!
June 21, 2012 9:46 am on Daniels named Purdue president
