  1. ReadyMix, why should any town "make" money off of a building project. If St. John hired 3 full time inspectors, benefits and everything for the duration of this project, it would not total $650K. So, Lake Central taxpayers from Dyer and Schererville should help pad St. John's coifers? Give me a break, you don't understand finances! Kudos to Dyer for seeing that any improvement to the school system will benefit the town long term. And Kudos to St. John for finally seeing the light as well. Those building fees are an extra "tax" - by lowering the fees, St. John still gets less extra money to their fund, decrease costs to LCHS building (thereby allowing them to put the money into the school) and that will increase St. John's property values for the next 20 years. Instead of getting $650K in one time now.... St. John will reap the benefits (including taxes paid by Dyer and Schererville) for a long time! And to say the the $5k permit when building a house isn't waived isn't even a good analogy! You are talking about the difference between public and private - I don't think St. John's officials are the dumb ones!

  2. tbs12345 sorry I used passed instead of past. Thank you for the grammar lesson. Despite it being 2012 where "lol" is a common thing to use for anyone who deals with younger children when texting, I will not use it in my response to you and it was a mistake to use it in this forum.
It was not the freshman's turn in the rotation, she had just pitched against Munster in the sectional championship game. I do not have a freshman or sophomore in the program, however, do have a granddaughter who hopes to play softball in high school someday. Mental mistakes are not the result of a coaches mistakes. They are a result of being 14-18 years old. These girls are not professionals, errors happen. The older pitchers that are on the LCHS team were defeated in the semi-states for the last two years. Maybe the coach was hoping to find that "ace" that could get them further this year and maybe WIN a state championship instead of just final four. Regardless, it is a game, their must be winners and losers, this time LCHS was on the losing side. They win as a team and lose as a team. Don't blame coaches or individual players (like many other posters have). I think it is great that so many are passionate about LCHS softball and are posting here. I just don't quite understand so many personal attacks, especially of "children" and even other posters. It is sad!

  4. It is a coaches job to play the kids that he/she thinks will make the team succeed! Period! I don't understand why age/year is a factor here. In anything in life, if someone is better, they play. Period! Look at college softball playoffs now and number of freshman STARTING! The same errors could have happened with a junior or senior on the rubber. If those balls are caught (by a 2 year varsity starter - experienced!), you are out of the inning down only 1, LCHS hits, they win! The older/more experienced players didn't hit the way they normally do. That doesn't make them a bad team, doesn't mean LCHS has a bad coach, doesn't mean those girls should'nt be proud of a great season, it happens! Losing is never easy! You gotta give credit to Chesterton, they played their best and LCHS didn't, it was just unfortunate that it happened at the Regional game. Coaches live and die by their decisions and agonize over everything! They second guess themselves enough as it is!!! LCHS we are all proud of what you did this year - you have a lot of talent in that program! You'll get them next year!!!!
