  1. so because he had been recorded doing kind acts that makes him a hero? what about all the other fire fighters & police officers out there doing the same job but not for the glory of it. and you can bet your life if one of them stood by & did not lift a finger to help a citizen there would be a far larger forum & on an even higher level. society is sick and tired of paying their tax dollars to public servants that are not performing their duties up to par. an officer is fully aware of their obligations. when one can not or will not adhere to their obligations as a police officer, inquiries are made. perhaps a review of the officers sworn oath must be reviewed. hmmmmm

    Ethical oath for police officers

    The ethical oath for police officers is taken by all police officers on completion of the Diploma in Police Studies. The oath is normally taken at the Police School in the presence of the National Police Commissioner. Family members, friends, teaching staff and other representatives will also be present.

    The oath reads as follows:

    Oath concerning the professional ethics of police officers

    I DO SOLEMNLY DECLARE UPON MY HONOUR AND CONSCIENCE THAT I WILL ACT AT ALL TIMES TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY AND KNOWLEDGE IN A MANNER BEFITTING A POLICE OFFICER

    I WILL PRESERVE THE DIGNITY AND WILL RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF ALL INDIVIDUALS

    I WILL DISCHARGE MY DUTIES WITH INTEGRITY AND WILL PROMOTE UNDERSTANDING AND CONCILIATION

    I WILL EXERCISE MY AUTHORITY AS A POLICE OFFICER IN THE MANNER INTENDED BY THE LAW

    I WILL FAITHFULLY OBEY THE ORDERS OF MY SUPERIORS AND WILL BE READY TO CONFRONT DANGER IN THE LINE OF DUTY

    I WILL ACT WITH HONESTY, COURTESY AND REGARD FOR THE WELFARE OF OTHERS, AND WILL ENDEAVOUR TO DEVELOP THE ESPRIT DE CORPS

    I WILL ACT JUSTLY AND IMPARTIALLY AND WITH PROPRIETY TOWARDS MY FELLOW OFFICERS

    I WILL CONSTANTLY STRIVE TO HONOUR THIS OATH IN MY SERVICE AS A POLICE OFFICER

    too bad the officer didnt have the same "look at me, i'm doing a good deed" attitude when he declared the guy laying on the floor dead & was going to leave it at that. too bad there isn't a picture to prove what 40 people eye witnessed. of course by all means he helped load toys. that makes it ok to let a young man die. everyone makes mistakes, that does not mean because a mistake was made we lie to cover it up. knowing we swore an oath and are paid by our tax dollars to do so. but hey what do 40 eye witnesses equal to one man captured on camera loading toys in an ambulance. i think we should let the kind man, officer haney, stick to loading toys into an ambulance.

  2. it's high time Hobart was exposed for the supported "the good old boy system". as illinois is cleaning up the mess of blago-corruption, Hobart needs to follow and clean up their corruption and not punish the whistle blowers. as has been the case for many years in Hobart. A new tide is coming in and washing out all the old way that brought Hobart down. the only Hobart can expand and become the great city it is possible of becoming is by eliminating the old fuddy duddy's that continue to corrupt it! The change is here Hobart, get ready!

  6. i think you missed the whole story here. the police officers & fire fighters are not being disrespected here. the dispute is about one officer in particular and his questionable behavior and lack of proper response. a public servant has committed themself to serve the public and perform the tasks that go along with the job. when a public official in any capacity, fails to perform up to code, they must be held accountable. the tax payers dictate their pay checks, therefore we as tax paying citizens, we will expect our officials to adhere to certain policies. this does not in any way make us disrespectful of public servants, nor ignorant to what they must sacrifice.

  8. obviously a thorough investigation needs to happen here. I was there and WITNESSED the whole entire situation along with many others. HOW THIS OFFICER IS NOT ONLY WILLINGLY TO ACCEPT CREDIT & AN AWARD FOR WHAT HE DID "NOT" DO IS APPALLING TO SAY THE LEAST. IF HE GETS AN AWARD FOR "LYING" THEN I WILL WILL PROTEST LOUDLY AND I HOPE EVERY PERSON THAT WITNESSED JORGE ALMEDINA SAVE THAT GUYS LIFE WILL STAND UP AND PROTEST AS WELL.
