- Very well said I agree these people need to be prayed for. When I saw these comments it just really pissed me off with the ignorance people have. Like I said in my previous post I have never commented on a news article before but seeing what people were putting just hit a sour part in me and I had to say something. I am glad that you posted something on behalf of the family so maybe these ignorant people can open their eyes and realize it can happen to ANYONE'S kid. Its good to know that he will be ok time will heal pain but sad to say hard lesson learned. Prayers to you and the family.

- My whole point was we do not know what happened so don't go judging like you are doing here. Like you I have 5 children and 2 of them are teenagers and I pray that the values that I instilled in them will prevail and that they would never get into a situation like this but you never know what will happen when they get around a group of friends thats when bad decisions happen. You hope that from the values and the presence that we have in our kids lives that they will learn from their mistakes. I have had many talks with my 17 yr old about the "what if situations" arise and the best way to handle them and the consequences if he goes along with those situations. However I am not a "helicopter" parent I do not honestly "know" where my son is at all hours....I don't know if he is telling me the truth I pray he is and I have to trust him and hope that he does understand that if he was to get into a situation that he know he shouldn't be in that he can always call me. Point is I am going to allow my son to go out and enjoy his teenage years and not hover around him, as a parent you have to trust that they make the right decisions and or learn from their bad decisions in turn this will help to make them into a strong and able to live on his own adult without mom and dad being there to protect him from the bad. Again we dont know what happened what if this was your kid that made a bad decision like this and you read all these comments bashing you. Its not right, unless the story went a group of tennagers were at the house of so and so drinking with the parents knowledge and then went out riding bikes. Then yes bash away at the parents but we do not know what happened all we know is that he is a teenager that was drinking with a group of friends.

- First of all I usually don't come on here and make comments but when I was reading the comments everyone has made regarding parenting skills it really set me off. How many of you were teenagers before?? Seriously did you tell your parents everything that you did at that age......I think not! As a parent in this day you try to teach your kids right from wrong and let them know what could happen if they make a bad decision...but in the end you cant control everything that they do, they will mess up and hopefully learn from their mistakes. The kid was 16 I know at 16 that yes I drank did my parents know about it? NO they did not....when I drank I was "staying at a friends house". Did my parents neglect me? NO they did not....they loved me and had to trust that I would make the right decisions....Did I...NO I was a teenager who thought I was invincible.....point is dont go on here bashing this kids parents when you know nothing of the situation.......it just pisses me off seeing the ignorant comments you have made if you want to make a comment regarding if he should be charged or not is one thing but going on here acting as if you are some perfect person give me a break noone is perfect.
