- Although I'm sure a lot of these orders are justified, some are not and are themselves a form of harrassment. I was served a PO initiated by a person with whom I had no domestic or romantic relationship and who cited fictitious, exaggerated and vague "incidents" in her petition. The Judge granted the order anyway and I had to hire an attorney to contest it. The PO was dismissed after the Court heard my rebuttal testimony but I had to spend my time and money in order to do so. It disturbs me that these legal contraints can be placed upon an innocent person without the Court first hearing from the Respondent. Although they can be contested, they are first awarded ex parte without what most would consider due process.
