Another reason college is so expensive is that there is still a lot of professors teaching worthless degrees on the payroll. Even more insulting is that there are professors on the payroll who spend years researching areas so ridiculous that it insults your intelligence.
We are past the days of the landed gentry, where the rich second son was sent to university to occupy his time. Education should have a point--especially for those later in life folks who are only turning to colleges becaue they hope it will land them a job.
A job in the sociology area won't pay swat--particularly at the entry level. If that major was picked solely because it seemed easy, then that should raise a red flag, because "easy" means that you aren't gaining additional knowledge that you (and much of America) didn't already have. Employers aren't looking to spend big money on common knowledge.
None.
Spare us the BS. For that matter, spare us the pandering to unions.
He lied!
Go "look it up" yourself. The whole reason that the case is before the US Supreme Court is because a lesbi@n was slapped with a $360,000 IRS inheritance tax bill when her SO died and she sued over it.

Wednesday’s case, United States v. Windsor, No. 12-307, concerns two New York City women, Edith Windsor and Thea Clara Spyer, who married in 2007 in Canada. Ms. Spyer died in 2009, and Ms. Windsor, who was in the courtroom on Wednesday, inherited her property. The law did not allow the Internal Revenue Service to treat Ms. Windsor as a surviving spouse, and she faced a tax bill of about $360,000 that a spouse in an opposite-sex marriage would not have had to pay.
