  1. I can only speak about Longfellow and New Tech middle school. I currently have two enrolled at Longfellow and one at New Tech. Due to my husband job we have had to relocate several times. We have been in at least four different school dist in the last 7 years. This is by far the worst school dist i have ever been involved with. We have only been with the dist since the begining of the year and i've been trying hard not to be quick to judge, but i have had nothing but bad experiences there. I once walked in and my son(9) was wondering around the school by himself lost. Just a few days ago my son somehow got to a phone without anyone knowing and used it to call home because he was terrified after being yelled at by various staff members. This past Monday my kindergarten daughter was chocked on the bus by another student hard enough to leave hand prints on her face and neck. The school denys that any of these things have taken place and have not even attemted to resolve any of these issues. My 8th grader has always been a B honnor student and is currently failing 2 classes. I once called the superindents office to report a serious threat of violence that was about to take place at the middle school, my phone call was never returned and the threat was carried out three days latter. These are only some of the issues that i have already faced i could go on and on, but i wont. The way the special ed program works is even more dispiciable then the school system itself. I fell sorry for every special needs child there, and even sorrier for the parents that dont know whats going on or just dont care enough about what goes on. How do you fight hard to save a failing dist that doesnt seem worth saving. Why are we only talking about money when there are many other bigger problems with our school. Dr Shirley begging and begging dont jump ship, how can i not? On additional note while at the forum at Longfellow i had to use the restroom, there was not a single roll of toliet paper in any of the stahls and all the soap dispensier were empty completly unexceptable by my standards.
