  1. There are actually no posted signs prohibiting swimming. The island is about 50 yards from the shore, at its closest point, and the water is shin deep 'til you're about half way there. After, you can still see the sand bar in the water. It actually looks like you can just wade over to the island. It doesn't look that dangerous. I am so sorry for the family, and I am praying for you and Antwain. Also, for Antwain's friend that was with him--I can only imagine how he feels.

  2. A non-swimming lake?? You've got to be kidding!! I was there a week ago when it was 95+ degrees, in the middle of the afternoon, and at any given moment, there were literally 20 to 30 people in the water, swimming and splashing about. Even toddlers wearing various flotation devices. People were spread out at the edge of the water, relaxing, and watching the numerous windsurfers and kitesurfers doing their thing close to shore. There was no security, except for the staff walking around collecting garbage, right next to the water, and no one told any of these people to leave the water. There are no signs posted prohibiting swimming. Instead, there should have been signs, letting the people know that they were swimming at your own risk. The place was renovated especially to attract kids, with the splash area, the swings, and playset near the water.

    Definitely a lawsuit in the making. Not that the signs would have changed anything, but it definitely creates the basis for a lawsuit.

    So now, I wonder if they'll bring back the lifeguards, and the designated swimming area from two years ago?
