  2. He's been doing this since he was 6 years old? So he's basically been raised to tresspass and ride on unfamiliar terrain and this was the end result and now the property owner is the bad guy because he won't let the parents ( who are also tresspassing ) put up a makeshift memorial? How about some responsibility for the parent's? The kid shouldn't have been out riding a dirt bike unattended to begin with. Kid's are dumb, they don't fully understand that the poor decision's they make today can result in them not seeing tomorrow. Today the family is mourning, next week they'll be meeting with a lawyer to discuss a wrongful death suit against the land owner for not properly securing the land and preventing this from happening. You'll see.

  3. I don't think people understand the seriousness of the situation and why parent's are so upset. My son attends a Lake Station school and yet we knew nothing about the incident until a family member out-of-state called to check on us tonight. Last month all the surrounding schools went on lock down due to a home invasion but yet when a Teacher is in a school posing a threat to kid's he's allowed to walk out of that school and nothing is done. This man could have walked into any school in this area ( after all he's a respected teaching veteran ) and killed children without warning. I wish some of you writing in could feel the gut-wrenching pain a parent feels every time they have to drop their child off at school. What do you say when your 7 yr old child asks you if they're going to get shot and die at school after the Newton shooting? Whats happening in schools is scary enough as is but Friday's incident proved that our schools and the police dept. in Lake Station aren't prepared for this and our children aren't safe.

  4. What's going to be done about 3680 New Jersey st in Lake Station??? The old people there have been selling drugs out of their house for over a year. I've contacted the drug task force and even the Chief of police and all this is being done within a one mile radius of not one but TWO grade schools. Gee, I wonder if the fact we see Lake Station police officers and various other Lake Station employee's visiting the property probably has something to do with everyone turning a blind eye to the activity? Hmmm... can't imagine why there are drug dens on every block in Lake Station.

  5. If someone owes you, common sense should tell you that if they were legitimate they wouldn't ask you to send them money in order for you to receive yours. It's hard to believe that people get taken like this and it happens every single day. If someone calls your house asking you for money, get as much information about them as possible, hang up and call the police and report it immediately. I know a lot of people are commenting and upset that others are calling this woman an idiot but c'mon, you really have no choice but to question the intelligence of someone who would fall for something so ridiculous. You might understand an out-of-the-loop feeble minded senior citizen falling for these types of scams but not someone this age!

  6. My husband works at the mill, this year he'll be working Christmas eve and has a 16 hour shift on Christmas day. We have a sick baby who had to go to the ER this morning and although I'd really like it if he could be here I understand that being thankful he has a job is far more important then whining about what cannot be changed. Be thankful if you have a job to go to, a roof over your head and food in your belly tomorrow - those are the things that matter most but a lot of people don't realize how lucky they really are until those things are taken away. We celebrated our Christmas yesterday, all that matters is that we got to be together and celebrate the love our family shares. Keeping things in perspective is what makes or breaks every day of your life. Merry Christmas to everyone and especially to those who sacrifice their family time to be of service to the rest of us during the holiday season.

  7. " He was wearing jeans, a dark blue hoodie and white tennis shoes ."

Um....did anyone happen to notice the guy shown in the video is clearly not wearing WHITE gym shoes? Either there are some mistakes in the story or the video still is showing a person who is being wrongly accused. Get it together! How is the public supposed to help when you can't even get your facts straight? Was the robber also wearing a hat along wth the hoodie? You can clearly see this person has some type of hat or bandana underneath his hoodie in the photo so if the robber wasn't wearing anything on his head, you're likely accusing the wrong person. Send Fife back to the dollar store to get a better description. lol

  8. It was only an accidental shooting until he lied about it and tried to destroy evidence of what had really taken place. When that happened, it became a crime, which is why he deserved more than four years. He wasn't sorry, remorseful or even mindful of the life he ended with his carelessness. A decent human being would have stood up and told the truth. This guy has no conscious, it will be the characteristic that serves him well in prison and the one that will make him a better liar/criminal when he comes out. In four years he gets to start his life over while life drudges on as usual for this girls mother. Is that justice?

  10. I live in Lake Station, my neighbors sell drugs, I've reported it to the police, even the chief. Certain officers seem to be repeat customers, so there is no relief or protection from the poice here only harassment for those who snitch! Wise up, LS residents are our their own!
