- Kristina Smekens is an awesome speaker and education. She is very passionate about her reading and writing techniques. Her ideas are very beneficial to the classroom. I have had the privilege of attending several seminars that she has offered and use many techniques within my classroom. I wish it was our school.

- "That's all Folks" I did not write to be corrected. I was writing what came to my into my mind after reading the news article, and it was done out of frustration. Although, I guess you live in a perfect world that you never have to worry about anything and everything you do is perfect. Guess what?? I worked hard for my degree and I am very proud of it. I didn't chose to go into $160,000 in debt for an education degree, I wanted to teach and I am very good at my job and well rounded. It is awful the way the are treating us, but you wouldn't know that. Sorry if you didn't like my writing out of frustration. Glad you aren't in the classroom, you must not have any compassion or understanding.

- I have taught both, and currently teaching in middle school. It is hard to find a job in either arena.

- This is sad! First, we do not have a shortage of teachers anyway (the college are saying we do, but people are keeping their jobs longer, due to limits with retirement). I am 45 and a licensed teacher. Lost my job after teaching 4 years (made 40,000 yr), due to cut backs in 2009. Then I have worked the last 4 years in another school and can't even make poverty level (annual is $14900 & no benefits-paid only when kids in session) and I put in way more hours than I am paid for, because of requirements of the position. And yesterday just found out at end of year my job is being cut, due to no money from state to help hold the jobs and provide quality for students. I had (2006) started working on a masters also, due to many corporations want that. Although, I have found out corporations like it, but will not HIRE anyone with 2 years or more experience (after 6 interviews this summer). That stinks! I went back to school, due to a desire to teach and change the future. I love being in the classroom, but can't get a job. I am limited on traveling, due to taking care of older parents. Terribly sad. Terribly sad...

- I wonder what is going to happen with the retirees. My dad is retired from there since 2007 and since August his pension has been $250 less a month. No warning or anything. When we called, they said it was due to contract. Nothing is stated about them.
