I just don't understand why you would disagree with ANY efforts put forth to unify efforts for school safety. This effort would also help the agencies that would be called in case of an emergency...if all schools had the same "plans."
Grants are there to be spent - the application and follow up procedures are long and tedious...but worth the effort.
Thanks to all involved! I say call Mike for some of the tedious tasks.
De. Melin did in fact set up quite an extensive set of committees - true. But the plan was always "his" plan and he left no room for listening to creative and pertinent suggestions. I believe "his" plan was to have the general population THINK that he was engaging teachers and Administrators into the formation of this so called "strategic plan" while the plan was his and his alone.
We need to allow Mike Berta and the current teams to now convene to look ahead and plan for the tomorrows of VCS. Valparaiso Community Schools is not broken...we just need good, solid leadership AND support from ALL involved....including the community. THEN all will need to work together.
I also believe that it is difficult to please everybody...teachers, parents, Administration, community members, and Chris Pupillo--- but we need to allow present leaders to lead so that business can be taken care of with integrity.
