- I am an alumna of the LCHS Class of 1983. We must disabuse the BOE from the idea that the Indian is politically incorrect. The BOE is missing out on a perfect opportunity to use the indian in LCHS' curriculum to teach diversity and to teach a more truthful history, warts and all, of Manifest Destiny and its ramifications on our American Indian brethren. We must never send the message to our students that we can forget this part of our history, yet by removing the Indian, this in effect is exactly what would occur.
