1. Tom O'Donnell a "rebel" and "fiscally responsible"?? It is like some sort of bad formula joke,"How many public jobs does it take...?". Tom O'Donnell would be a good example of the concern so many Democratic candidates are raising (THIS YEAR) about putting in full time hours. Oh, fellow citizens, this guy's ethics are very checkered! How did he vote to cut employees in government but support keeping costly benefits (AND PENSION contrbutions) for part-time public defenders. By the way, in the real world of work, part-time usually isn't 2 or 3 hours a pay period. But, wait, that's right you are (were) one of them--weren't you? Pay check for public defender while also pulling a pay check as County Councilman! Paid twice to be in the same courtroom halls maybe? (Refund some $ to your private clients!) AND, wasn't it a bit of a conflict of interest to practice law in courts where you were a representative of the entity that passes the salary ordinances of the Judges, Prosecutors--every staff member in the room. This conflict of interest pattern seems to spread to the Times since you are (see Aug. 7, 2011) noted as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board. Shocking. Tom O'Donnell was "unemployed" by the voters once--keep up the good work,

    CROWN POINT | Lake County's newest coroner unveiled an administrative staff Monday with name recognition and experience.

    Merrilee Frey, the county's first female coroner, introduced David J. Pastrick as her chief deputy coroner and Jessica Metros as her administrative officer.

    Pastrick, a son of former East Chicago Mayor Robert Pastrick...Metros was active in Crown Point community affairs as former wife to then-Mayor James D. Metros.
