- I ONLY READ A COUPLE OF THESE COMMENTS. SO I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT RACISM HERE. HOWEVER, I WILL SAY THAT I GREW UP IN THAT SUBDIVISION FROM 1965-1983, JUST 5 BLOCKS AWAY FROM WHERE THIS HAPPENED. MY MOM MOVED OUT OF IT 4 YEARS AGO BECAUSE IT WAS BECOMING VERY TRASHY. THIS SHOWS WHAT COMES WITH TRASH. I PRAY FOR THOSE THAT STILL LIVE THERE FROM THE OLD DAYS.

- I don't think inheritances should be taxed either. The person that the inheritance came from paid taxes on that money throughout their life. If for some reason they didn't, oh well. The IRS should have caught that one when they were alive. It's not right to re-tax who it is given to.

- LOL. You answered your own question. He probably paid the times not to cover the dinner so his best associated friends/politicians/crooks weren't made public, outside of their little circle that is.

- Yes they do. It's a shame the police get put in this dangerous situation. Quite often, a person with suicidal thoughts, who have obviously stated them or they would not be known about, are checked on by local police at the request of a family member or friend. These types of incidents often lead to the 'suicide by cop' thing, which is usually the intention of the distressed in the first place. Most believe suicide puts you in the 'hot spot' for eternity. So it's better to have someone else do it for them in order to rest peacefully for eternity. People know if you shoot at a cop, they will shoot back. Fortunately, police are trained in talking to distressed people in a situation like this, usually through a cop even further trained in negotiation. Police are put in this position more than the public are made aware of. When officers are called to do a welfare check on a suicidal person, they also have to protect other citizens that may be in the area of the suicidal person, especially one who is shooting. It says this guy was still not cooperative even after leaving the house. He may have still been trying to be shot. He is lucky that he was only shot with the foam tips & not the real thing. As you said, the police had to protect themselves too. They knew the state of mind of this man & I think acted accordingly. It takes a lot for the cops to shoot, with real bullets, a person in this state of mind. I mean A LOT. A good example is www.nwitimes.com/news/local/lake/gary/police-standoff-in-gary-lasts-into-the-night/article_586942c3-ca17-54fe-875f-01540a908665.html. It occurred the day after Thanksgiving in 2011. The man was just released from custody in February of this year. He is very stable & doing excellent. Had the police not had the patience they did during this standoff, he wouldn't be alive today. Valpo police did an excellent job in saving a man that seems to have been out to hurt himself. I hope the man involved in this situation gets the help he needs to over come the stress or whatever put him into this state of mind.

- I haven't been able to read the paper for weeks, been too busy. This was the first article I got to read when I did have a chance to sit down. EXCELLENT way to start the day. My hope & prayers go out to Blake. Also, forever bless the person that made this organ donation possible. Everybody that can, health & religion allowing, should say yes to organ donation at the BMV. THIS precious little 9 year old is the true proof of this. Hang in there little guy. You'll be fine. Many are praying for you.

- I know they had to eat & all. However, I would think that even while eating they were talking or thinking to themselves about the facts of this case. I'm sure dinner wasn't long either. They were probably the first ones who wanted to wrap it all up, as quickly as possible. I'm surprised it took more than an hour. That's the hour needed to document all they considered & discussed.

- Why ruin Dustin's life Flashedbios? Because he killed. Did you ever, even once, stop & think that he could do it again? It could be you or your family next time if one of you ticked him off. As far as this country being disgusting, only to people like you that think it's ok to kill & then go home, only to kill again. Sounds like you may have been in prison yourself or know somebody who is. I can't help but think that since you have the attitude that America just wants to imprison. I certainly don't think, as well as 99% of the others on this board, that's it's ok to kill & be let free. I think you need to go smoke some more of your stuff & see more flashes in your head.

- You are right. It won't bring Amanda back. However, it will keep this creep from hurting the next 50 girlfriends and/or wives that (would have) left him. God Bless Amanda's family. They finally got the greater part of the peace that they have long deserved.
