- This article does not tell the whole story. This ambulance at station 2 will only be there between 9am and 9 pm. All other times the station will be closed. Also the 60 day expirement failed 5 minutes after it started. When there was a call in Barrington with the "ALS" engine and the medic from 4's there was a serious call in the station 4 district which created delay in receiving "ALS" care for that pt. I also think it should be noted that many of the things the union had fought for the city had caved, though they do not acknowledge it ie; having 3 ambulances, opening station 2, even though limited and a Batt. chief in his own vehicle. GOOD JOB the the union boys!

- You do not receive the same service, that is proven daily. Hobart has some of the best medics in NW Indiana, if not the state. The experience of these professionals is somethiing that we should all want as citizens of the city. Most private company medics dont get the calls and therefore the skills the fire department people have. In addition you never know who will show up to your door. A private medic will be in Hobart today and another town tomorrow and a third place the next day. With your local department you know who you are getting the skill level and you know he is someone who care and will always give that little extra.

- No where has councilman Vinzant said if they privatize the ambulance our taxes will go down. In fact they will stay the same or go up, as well as the cost of an ambulance ride. Currently the charge is close to what insurance and medicare pay. Privates dont make money charging that little amount. And other cost savings, why have 2 people doing a job that we already have 1 person doing. Also why dont they talk to police and fire fighters in those other communities and ask them how the service is. If the city was truly doing it for the people this idea would go away once and for all. And if any one thinks that when a private service comes in the rigs are sitting waiting for 911 calls your sadly mistaken. Again they dont make money just sitting. They will be bringing people back and forth to dr appointments or other medical procedures and you may have to wait for an ambulance from another town to arrive. Hobart council and Mayor, who just got raises, should look into privatizing their jobs. I know we can get better people for the people and cheaper.

- Oh, so the citizens are not subsidzing my taxes are going to go down? Yeah right. Mr. Vinzant also forgot to mention that an ambualnce ride with the city now in fairly reasonanble. About the cost insurance and medicare will pay, and a private provider, again without lowering taxes will charge at least double for the same service. So higher cost less expereince, if they even show and no loyalty, I question the citys anf vinzants motives

- It is not a success to the community or to the other first responders. You never know who is coming with the private organ izations. They are not vested like YOUR OWN PEOPLE. Hobart has the best medics with the most experience around. The city is willing to negate this in the apparent attempt to save money? Does not sound logical to me
