- Mr. Ross, you say "There are some people too unstable to own guns, and we need to limit their access to them. I agree, I just don't trust the government to make that determination. What everyone knows is that not only will a background check be required, but that you'll have to meet the governments requirements on that test to get a license to buy and carry a gun. This would be another way of taking away our rights under the constitution. Before our rights under the constitution are taken away there needs to be proof that an individual is not capable of using those rights. That is the opposite of the government requiring that the person prove that they can use their constitutional rights before using them, which "background checks" would do.

- Perhaps a single head of Lake county Government would wield too much power. However, there are improvements which could be made, especially in the personnel and accounting departments.

- $200,000.00 per unit? With housing prices in Gary at less than $100,000.00 per house for a nice house, the money could buy 120 good existing houses. Is a 1200 square foot "unit" at 1200 W 20th going to be worth $200,000.00 + dollars on the market? I doubt it. Will these units be reserved exclusively for Psychotherapy patients (Edgewater Systems provides behavioral healthcare services)? If so, maybe maybe this is too many patients living too closely together. I've no doubt of the need, just the implementation and cost.

- Andrea Neal, you're correct on this one! It's too bad that "big money" has the power to purchase opinion and influence votes to accomplish dubious causes. Voters paying attention can still take control, but we must be diligent.

- It's the job of our public servants to spend our taxes wisely, not to continually ask for more so that they can spend more. There's plenty of taxes being imposed now, they only need to be allocated and spent wisely. Don't impose more taxes, replace the politicians that ask for more!
