- The problem I see with private Ems versus fire based is that when you have dedicated sworn in firefighters providing services to your town you provide a better service because they are dedicated to protect the residents of your town or municipality. Also there is a hiring process for the firefighters that includes background checks psychiatric evaluations and a overall testing process. When you have a private service you don't know who you are getting because it is based on a business contract and not on dedicated public service workers also the hiring process is completely different where at the private company they are geared towards profit and customer service and not sworn in public servants.
