- I'm not sure what point you're trying to make but Sniper, I'm going to guess you're in the same boat as Robert1947 in a way that you don't know facts and live by the "I heard" and "Someone told me" method to get your information. And here's a concept you geniuses probably have already thought but I'll throw it out there anyway .... maybe .... just maybe it was the previous Chiefs who were the problem. I know everyone is quick to jump on the Mayor's case about things but he surely couldn't be doing what's best for the city, he has to be micro managing and running off all the good police Chiefs. GIVE ME A BREAK!! That's stupid and ignorant if you really believe that's the case.

- Oh look, another commenter (Robert1947) who has no idea what they're talking about. Unless you work for the police department and can support your accusation of the Mayor micro managing with facts that you've personally seen, then all you do is make yourself sound stupid commenting about something you have absolutely ZERO idea what you're talking about. I don't want to hear "I heard" or "I have a friend who said". Bring facts to your arguments, then people might actually listen to your nonsense.

- Come people! I know the concept of using your brains for once is hard but think about it for a minute. Budget, budget, budget. The fire department consumes a large amount of money every year and for what? An occasional house fire that ends up in a total loss anyway. A volunteer fire department can do that and not cost the city anything really. And to Trademark, I have needed the services and when the fire department and paramedics showed up to my house with bed head and still looked half asleep, I wasn't exactly happy nor did we get the best service. I know everyone likes firemen and everyone thinks they keep you all so cozy and safe, but the truth is the truth, there's way to many for the amount of work they do in a year. Again, keep the 24hr EMS and ambulance service, cut some of the firemen, add some volunteers and you won't notice the difference, I promise.

- I'm against getting rid of EMS but I'm not against cutting the number of firemen employed by the city. The harsh reality is that the City of Hobart DOES NOT need 50+ firemen. The amount of money the fire department sucks from the city budget is insane. Think of the money that could go toward better roads, better sewers, better sidewalks, better curbs, better parks if the fire department had even half of what they do. Lets face it, how many actual fires does the city have? Not enough to justify keeping 50+ firemen. I say keep the 24 hour ambulance service with EMT and paramedics and get rid of the excess baggage. I'm sure there are plenty of citizens that would be more then willing to volunteer to the fire department.

- I'm all for everyone having an opinion but reading some of these comments have no bearing on what the article was about. Everyone here wants to name names and pretend like they know what officers or supervisors did or currently do. I'm going go out on a limb and say some of the commenters either know someone on the police department or have recently talked to someone who has. But unless you CURRENTLY work for the police department, none of you loud mouth, wanna be know-it-all, morons know nothing and have no clue what you're talking about. You sissies are hiding behind a computer. Grow some balls and say the things you're saying to the people you're talking about. Some of you might even be rejects who tried getting hired on the police department and couldn't cut it or got rejected.
