  2. What is the name of that shopping center that died in Harvey? Is the Lansings heading that way? What is the move costing the village in lost property taxes and any tif and sales taxes promised to Walmart. Walmart/Sams ... how many years did they hold the village hostage with an empty building and junky building right off the main drive and now they are rewarded? Nonet gain here for the village and the rest of us are subsidizing it with our tax dollars. big corporation wins.. struggling residents lose.

  5. If a mix of folks sits on the board that would be a good thing.. board needs some discussion. New members will be good. except for don there rest are new blood. All of them are educated and full of energy....... and experienced in working woth the public.
    This bad mouthing all who came before is actually turning voters I have spoken with totally off... especially older folks who remember that Podgorski actually worked to get Abbott elected.
    Elections are always about what have you done for me lately....
    The truth is the economy went south in 2008 and is now slightly improving... Past administration is not at fault for that and the current cannot take credit for the slight improvement. But it is still what have you done for me lately that the current folks have to be accountable for.

  6. Seems I missed a good party!!!! I did hear that Mr Stole finally found some passion for the village.. a little too late maybe... but with his smarts and education he should have found it earlier and actually took on the responsibility for being mayor. But with Mr Abbott paying for his and the entire slate's cost of running .. he could not upstage the man who is paying his freight.
    Smarts and education is actually what is needed and it looks like the other party has it. Experience in dealing with the general public and energy in needed.... Village cannot continue the way it is going.
    If you all are so concerned with what is going on in the village you should be watching closer and continue to do so no matter who is in office. If does not matter who you are friends with ... keep up the looking now and forever. You all should have been looking with open eyes for the last 4 years. This going back and blaming past groups and overlooking the last 4 years is having blinders on.

Of course Abbott was not fired from a job... he just married into a rich family with a business....... as long as he was married to the only child of rich folks he could not be fired... now he is using that wonderful woman's assets to pay for a campaign for himself and the entire slate ... something she would never have approved of if she had lived to see it. RIP Diane

  10. What will either part do to move the village forward is my question... I did vote for Abbott the last time. so did my family .... but it is now like watching the cubs for 4 years of "wait til next year". Why did Abbott not go for a village administrator 4 years ago when he realized the job was too much for him? To say on Meet the Mayor that all past mayors were incompetent is a little bit insulting and sound like his personal issue with Balthis, West and Podgorski. To run agains an adminstration that was gone already for 4 years or more is to deflect from the last 4 years. Yes the economy is garbage but other towns are managing.... Lansing keeps being compared to South Holland .. they are struggling but having wins in these hard time. Hiring someone who once was part of the S.H. team is not enough... No matter who works for the village the buck stops at the mayor's desk....Abbott needs to take responsibility..... So I ask what have you done for me lately catagory.... lets quit throwing everything into fault of the long time past and deal with the last 4 years. Energy is needed now..... ideas are needed now... action not words are needed now..... the ability to make decisions is needed now.
