- I am a Proud homeowner in Griffith .A couple of years ago my family income was $23,000 for a family of 4 and the following year to $33,000 and we didn't use a dime of Calumet Township assistance. Heck I didn't even know about the assistance program. We did everything and anything to make sure there was a roof over our heads and food on the table. Quit enabling these people to stay at home and do nothing(I know there are some people who are really in need) just like the lady who paid for her food with food stamps then went to her brand new Cadillac with the paper plate still on it.
