You are correct as Americans we all have the freedom of speech, but we also have laws with a judicial system in place to protect the citizens of this country. These "tweens" who make all these comments in what you described as "jest" have text book signs of sociopathic behaviors. The taking of a human life is not something to be taken lightly, especially with such detail and thought out processing. Everyone is blaming the parents, but they are not fully to blame. At the age of 12 or 13 you know right from wrong and can make a conscious decision for one's self. To say you want to not only kill, but to name the person, the form of the crime, and the preventive measures from getting charged for crime is not a "jest" it is a serious matter. The worst thing that could happen is for these girls to get away with this. Expulsion in my opinion was not the right course of action, but psychiatric therapy would be a better approach. Do not let the crocodile tears of young girls getting punished sway the obvious problem here. Parents will always risk life and limb for their children it is the protective nature, but what happens when Girl 1 or Girl 2 gets away with this behavior and then think as long as they shed a fear tears and apologize it is okay. This could be considered conspiracy to commit murder which IS AGAINST THE LAW!
