GOHAMMOND

  1. Mya, it is people like you who have caused many of the challenges Hammond faces. Then you have the nerve to criticize the people who are trying to clean up the mess you make. You're pathetic

  2. You always have to go to the gutter don't you? Your comment speaks to how you let your hatred get in the way of what really happened. You think Markovich represents you? He represents only what will benefit him. He didn't say a word at the council meeting and then called the paper to make it look like he is going to save the day. He's very good at tricking people who don't know better that he will save them a buck - and you fall for it.

  3. The story didn't. I went to the council meeting and heard for myself.

  4. Sounds like the "Tax Payers Watch Dog" is trying to grab headlines. Amusing that Markovich voted YES on the ordinance.

  5. Okay, clean ups are good. What I don't understnd is why would anyone want to clean the garage, load a truck, take the junk to the dumpster and then unload the junk when you could just take the junk to the alley. Sounds like too many wasted steps to me. I'd much rather see more lights.
February 24, 2013 6:31 pm on Hammond council to discuss spending ban on Dumpsters
  6. My oh my, Mr. Racer. Sounds to me like someone didn't get their way at some point in time so now you hate everything. How sad you are.
January 29, 2013 11:50 am on Mayor's Night Out is today at Eggers school cafeteria
  7. The Times does not print crime stats for any communities. If you hadn't noticed, they don't print much of anything unless you pay them. If you're interested in crime info you can visit Crime Reports.com and get all the information you want - no information is withheld or altered. At the Crime Watch meeting last year when the mayor was badgered about home value information the members got off the internet, his comment was "if it's on the internet then it must be true". Give our police officers credit. They do a great job. If you want private security officers, pay for it yourself. Get off your duff and go to the crime watch meeting and tell the mayor you think the police dept is understaffed and he lies about stats and withholds information and it was his fault the police officer who responded to the bank robbery was shot by the robbers before the officer even got out of his car. Go ahead. I dare you.

  8. Get it straight. It's Markovich complaining not McDermott. If you think Higgs & Markovich are the best representation for Hammond take a look at the October Council meeting. Those two are an embarrassment to even Barnum & Bailey

  9. The city does NOT pay for personal cell phones of councilman, therefore they should not be obligated to give their cell number. Council contact information is on the city website if you're interested. $25,000 a year is not an exorbitant salary - EC is paid around $40,000 a year. Markovich is the only councilman complaining about the downsizing of the council secretaries - so who is the clown?.

  10. Walmart cannot sell over a certain percentage of groceries due to an agreement with Dominicks/Food4Less. Super Stores are the trend now & if Walmart wants to expand AND stay in Hammond, Cabela's is a great site. Surely an expansion will involve more jobs. Bottom line the decision is Walmart's not the councilman's
