  1. I agree with the 2 or 3 second rule, I use it when driving on I-80/I-94 and traffic passes me early and often. I don't understand how to apply the rule when a vehicle comes sliding off a ramp onto the highway on its side directly in front of another vehicle.

Here are my questions for Mr. Villegas: was the load that important, were you not paying attention, do you not know what you're doing, did you buy your CDL, or are your CDL documents falsified? I'm interested in the answer because I'm usually on that ramp at ~5:20 AM and I doubt that my car would have stood up to your sliding tractor-trailer.

  2. I would like to see an investigation of the financial organization that provided in 2010 a $2.3 MILLION mortgage on a property that is now worth $550 thousand. 2010 was after the "housing bubble" burst. I hope it wasn't my bank.

  3. I read the article whose link appears in Susan Z's comment, above. There are interesting salaries quoted and Supt. Sopko makes an interesting comment that the 4 administrator retirements saved money for the School Town. (His pension will make up for his "sacrifice" in ~4 months.) I would like to read an explanation of the justification for bringing back the 4 "retirees" at full salary. After all, the School Board must have approved the rehirings, did they not?

  4. Before we hand the townships' poor relief programs to Lake County, let's look at the County's comparative costs for distributing the county welfare program, and see if the county is more efficient than the townships.

  5. Payroll cost an average of ~$459 per recipient to distribute an average of ~$663, according to these figures. I wonder if the total office administrative costs exceed the amount of relief distributed to the poor.

From 2003 to 2004, the number of employees decreased by 23 people, yet payroll increased by $400,000 dollars, and from 2004 to 2005 the number of employees decreased by 2, yet payroll increased by $210,000. How could this have happened?

  6. I am interested in the quintile analysis of the length of time that recipients received assistance: How long did the longest 20% of the recipients receive assistance? The next 20% of recipients? (etc) The shortest 20% of recipients?

How does the Calumet Township Trustee's Office rate against other Indiana Township Trustee Offices in finding jobs for recipients? Is the Calumet Township total average of ~4.26% (based upon the number of households) from 2001 through 2009 a typical figure, a poor figure, or a praiseworthy figure?

  7. Munster is not Woodstock.

This reads like a solvable problem. I'm neither a law enforcement officer nor an attorney, but I believe that urinating in public qualifies as indecent exposure and is an action subject to arrest.

If the pilgrimage's sponsors are interested in improving the reputation of this pilgrimage, then these sponsors will work with the Town of Munster and they will provide portable toilets along the pilgrimage route.

A few years ago there was a problem with loud music or chanting from this pilgrimage taking place through Munster's neighborhoods on Sunday morning, and I understand that the problem was solved. Why is this problem different?
