Kotka and Gulley are long past their primes as effective officers and should be forced into retirement. Gulley had a royal meltdown when he wasn't named Chief when Grimmer retired. Yes there's an Arryo on the force who's supposed to be DARE & GREAT officer. He's worthless, he's cost the town money in a lawsuit in which he broke a boy's wrist at St. Mary's years ago while slapping handcuffs on him. He also was worthless as US Steel Plant Protection officer as well. I heard he used to be a garbageman, maybe he should revisit that option as fallback.
As far as the Griffith Republicans go, Ryfa, Jerome and the others have done quite a bit during their watch to improve this place. The downtown is looking much better than in earlier adminstrations. Trust me I'm not a Repubican either.
Lastly, I can't imagine the Machine dictating 'hands-off' orders concerning the Mansards. That's too crazy of a notion to fathom.

Mark Leyva is the poorest excuse ever for a political candidate in this area. Six times he's ran against Congressman Visclosky and has had his lunch handed to him six times. People should read his campaign propaganda and then see for themsleves what a disaster his entire platform is. Leave it to a Tea Bagger and so-called "patriot" to not want job growth and emergency communications.
Leyva is nothing more than a professional candidate who seeks political office as means of employment. He's nothing more than a paper lion.

I'm a retired hiring manager who's worked for some of the "biggies" around here and I blame the politicians for forcing our schools into this standardized test marlarky. These kids are not only unprepared for college but their also unprepared for the industrial workplace. They can't read rulers, wouldn't know a micrometer from a microphone and have no marketable skills. I would like to know where our next generation of quality trades people are going to come from? I contend that this is just another GOP plot to outsource virtually all manufacturing in this country to China.

The Mansards has become the Robert Taylor Homes of Griffith. Dope dealing goes in broad daylight within the complex as well as in nearby parking lots with drive by shootings on the horizon. If you're looking to place blame, blame Ritchie Daley. He is the man responsible for the tear down of Taylor, Stateway Gardens, Cabrini et al flushing that "sewage" into Northwest Indiana. This sewage has dragged down school systems, increased the crime by double digits in what where peaceful communities and driven down the real estate prices within these towns. A good place to start this issue is billing the Mansards' management company $100.00 for every dispatch be it police fire or ambulance service. Highland, Merrillville, Portage,Valparaiso as well several other communities have dealt with these issues. Look at the census numbers from 2000 and then from 2010 and you'll see where I've gotten my info from.
