  1. O.K., now we want two more studies how much will that cost taxpayers and how long will that take?Lake county lost 300 jobs? What a joke, they could lose another 1000 jobs and not miss a beat. The 15 million they have to borrow is because of mis-management and the taxpayers should not have to bail out officials with another tax.Bus service for twenty people is not a need. Cheaper to give them taxi money. I see empty buses going to and from the county complex every day.Why is there a low property collection rate? Who at the county is not doing their job? I will tell my representatives in Indy to vote no on bill SB585.
March 28, 2013 8:03 am on EDITORIAL: Northwest Indiana needs Senate Bill 585
  2. I see that I stand with the previous posters so I will give Mr. Ross a solution. Send your new Employee Mr. James to the county complex for a year of real investigative reporting. I am sure as a crack reporter he will be able to find 15 million dollars of waste.
March 20, 2013 9:21 am on EDITORIAL: Structure Lake County income tax well
  3. Lake county politicians get their ethics from Chicago politicians and you spell it M-O-N-E-Y!
February 28, 2013 11:44 am on EDITORIAL: Government employees need ethics training
  4. If Cline ave is vital to the Steel industry and refineries and casinos then let them pay for it. Casinos make plenty of profits. Bp is rolling in clover with the money they make and Mittal spent more than that on his daughter's wedding. Maybe NWI needs to pay their own way sometime. It's possible you could get some money from the Mayor of Chicago since most people in NWI seem to want to be part of Chicago and not Indiana.

  5. Rich James: Once a hack writer always a hack writer. Never tells it like it is, tells it like he thinks it is.
January 24, 2013 9:12 am on Rich James is The Times' newest columnist
  6. The article and the box score makes no sense. Does anyone read this b/4 it goes out?
November 03, 2012 7:42 am on One year later, Pirates earn sectional title
  7. John Wolf. I would guess you didn't have a problem with JFK or Kerry or all the members of the Kennedy family on the taxpayer dollar..At least Romney didn't make his money bootlegging nor did he marry into billions. He at least was a successful business man making his money the old fashion way, by working for it. Do you ever wonder how Obama got where he is? By his own words he hardly went to high school his last two years but spent his time experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Don't think he could graduate from any school in Indiana.Since he has hidden all his records you don't know anything about him.Spending time as a community agitator with the Rev. Jackson does not qualify a person for anything. If you truly a family of four and living on $35,000 you have made some very poor choices in your life.
October 31, 2012 8:45 am on Romney can't relate to average working American
  8. The Times a right wing agenda??? Obviously you don't read the paper very often. Both papers in Lake county are liberal papers because they cater to the majority of their readers in democrat controlled Lake county. Lake county is at the bottom of the 92 counties in Indiana in most everything and why? Controlled by the same mentality forever. Yea let's get another democrat from Lake county to Indy so they can run to Illinois when they don't get their way. I am sure happy that I have a real person to represent me now instead of the cowardly woman I had b/4, that did run to Illinois. If people in Lake county want the state to help you had better some some reps down there that think like everyone else in the state.
October 25, 2012 8:56 am on EDITORIAL: We pick Niemeyer in House District 11
  9. As long as the people of Lake County keep electing the same old people into office things will never change. The complex is overrun with people that have been there forever, employees are relatives and friends of the elected officials. Benefits are better than most of us that do not work there. And like our federal government no one is ever held responsible for anything. If we don't have money than we need to cut everything back. Too many employees, too many benefits, cut salaries of elected officials. If the jail can't be run on a budget shut it down. The way government is run in Lake county we would be better off if we had none.
October 18, 2012 9:11 am on EDITORIAL: Green with envy over Porter County's gold
