  1. Well, if the results were not determined fairly, I'm NOT surprised considering it was sponsored by the United Way who is known for skimming a huge percentage of donations off the top for it's administrators and expensive luncheons, etc. I would NEVER support anything associated with the United Way nor the Lion's Club.

  2. @scalesofjustice.....Education??? You didn't even graduate from pre-school. You could not even SPELL THE WORD 'YOU'. You are pathetic.

  3. @BigKielbasa - and were you one of those business owners who helped suck it dry? Used it until there was nothing left - not caring about generations following you?

  4. @scalesofjustice. Obviously you do not live in EC. I do. My family has been here since turn of the century over 100 years ago. True, it will never be what it once was, but it can be a lot better than it is. I live here out of choice, it's my hometown and it's affordable. Yes, I've seen it go down hill for 50 years now. Bit by bit businesses disappeared, burned down and never got rebuilt until it hit the point that there are no businesses.
But nothing will happen without hope. And it's attitudes like yours that keep people from even trying to make things better!

  5. Are you stupid or what? The fire was blasting out of those windows like a blowtorch! They firefighters did a GREAT job of saving the rest of the block and should be commended not criticized. It could have turned out a lot worse.
Have you ever stood out in the cold while sprays of icy water soak you and turn you into an ice-covered figure? I have. I was a first responder and was a several winter fires where the water froze us solid. It hurts. It's hard work and your body pays for it as you get older.
So what if Lubia's supposedly gives good customer service? Either way the firefighters always work hard to save a building. It's what they do.

  6. It was obvious.
I heard from someone that it's her estranged husband who did it. That he was mad at her.
If the people of Whiting are not careful, soon their nice town will look like East Chicago - all parking lots and empty lots and burned out or boarded up buildings. I live there and Whiting is my old 'stomping grounds'. I hate to see acts of vandalism like this happen because it destroys old historic buildings that cannot architecturally be replaced. A lot of the people moving to EC and Whiting have no sense of history of this area, so what do they care if the place they rent burns down? Now how is it going to look for the Fourth of July Parade and Pierogi Fest??? Maybe it will be cleared though in time for Mexican Independence Day. Ole!

  7. Cranki, the dogs are much more lovable than you. You are a much hated person and I personally hope that something terrible happens to someone as hateful as you.

  8. This fire traveled way to fast. The way it was blowing out of the windows like a blowtorch just doesn't look right. Considering it was mid-afternoon with at least 7 apartments of people on a Sunday afternoon, you think someone would have noticed if a fire had been burning for a while. What about smoke detectors?
I'm just grateful that this happened during the day and not during the night or there could possibly have been a great loss of life. I feel very sorry for those who lost everything and know how it feels since we lost our house 2 years ago and most of our possessions and urge people to donate what they can to these unfortunate people. Remember, the children need some 'comfort toys' along with their basic needs. Their whole world have been upset.

  9. Some of you people are heartless and not worth communicating with. Some of you are spoiled brats that I am thankful are NOT part of my family. My family contributed to society. Some of you do nothing but make fun of others. Shame on you. God and karma will get back around to you some day and heaven help you because it won't be pretty and you are ill-prepared for what will happen. I hope it's REALLY bad.

  10. YOU are a jacka$$. HOW DARE YOU make fun!! It is not my fault I was born with a heart defect that led to other health problems. Obviously your family was super blessed and you should thank God that no such things happened to you or your loved ones. I was born with ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) which thanks to someone with Hep C donating blood, I ended up with other health issues. Most likely I got Autism from the high fever I ran from my vaccination at age 6 months. And HOW DARE YOU make fun of my Dad's PTSD. He came here from a foreign country and served THIS country, along with his brother. He died of AIDS from a blood transfusion after being injured at LTV in the 1970's. AGAIN, if nothing bad happened to you....count yourself lucky. My family had some bad luck but we continued on and made the best of things. Would you have continued to do good for others? Did you EVER do good for anyone other than your own selfish jerky self?!?! I doubt it!
