And sometimes you taxpayers come in with the attitude that we don't pay taxes! And come in with the attitude that it's the employees fault that you have to pay taxes! If you want to complain go to the Commissioner's & Council members and do that NOT the employees.

All salaries are public record, you just need to go to the Auditor's Office and fill out a request form! It's easy!!! Or it's in the Crown Point Star in the January edition.

12 sick days, But we're not the steel mills that make big money! Maybe the Times should tell us what Mr Dabertin makes a year for all his Government jobs!!!! Most employees in the Treasures, Auditor's, Recorder's, & Assessors office make less then $29,000 a year! Majority make $22,000 to $25,000 which is poverty with a family! Then you have Councilwoman Christine Cid, making her $26,000 or so for Council job plus her job in the Treasurer's office which is about $26,000! Bet there is a lot of employees that would like to make that???And our insurance! Employees pay twice monthly, retirees pay monthly, but they don't pay our bills till they are ready to be sent to a collect agency! They tell us there is no money to pay the bills???? Why because they take the money out of our insurance fund to pay all the lawyers they hired and can't afford! That are on the County insurance too! So now what do you have to say about some county employees???

For starters there is an independent HR department! And Tom Dabertin runs it! And you should really ask him what his salary is! Besides being the Mayor of Hammond's 2nd in command, plus the company he owns that's most Government entities pay him! They just fired the lawyer that handled the workman's comp cases that made
$70,000 a year & hired a lawyer for $17,000 & gave the rest to Mr Dabertin, besides the other $90,000 he makes for being head of HR, Oh I forgot to mention he is only there 1 day a week if he shows up & that's on Friday afternoins!!!! He works for Town of Merrillville, Valparaiso, & Chesterton!!!! He has room to talk about County employees??? I was a county employee I retired, I get $687 a month before taxes are taken out! Then I pay $165 a month for health care! When I quit I made $29,000 a year with no raise for 10 years! I am not related to anyone & I worked my butt off! Yes I received 6 weeks vacation &1
