  2. I want to congratulate a wonderful basketball player, but even more, a player that appears to be a great individual on and off the court. I have been around the game for a long time, and i can remember as a CYO coach watching you play in 8th grade, saying to my fellow coaches, "that boy is special.. he is going to have a great future ahead of him". Looking back, i could not have said it any better.

Some would think this is a difficult thing for me to post... especially since i am a member of the BNI family... It's like a Purdue fan posting something nice about an IU player... It has been a great rivalry the past 3 years, and I can only envision a similar environment this year. I could not recall an atmosphere like the one at Andrean last year... Dean Danos expressed it was the greatest basketball environment of his career,,, the closest i can recall would have been when Noll played Griffith when Coach Gabor started coaching for them, as well as when Noll won the regional @ home vs South Bend St Joseph on a last second shot

That being said, when it comes to being a fan of the game itself, you swallow your pride and tell it the way it is, So this is definitely an opportunity to wish a great player and apparent great individual the best on your way to what should be a great career at Valpo.

  3. ummm.. i guess you know more than all of us, but i heard he has been running practice since Friday... so his absence must not be too far from the program..

  4. What website are you looking at? here is a link to the Athletics coaches page, and about half way down, i believe it is Coach Drew Trost that is pictured as Head Basketball coach:

    http://bishopnoll.org/s/423/index.aspx?sid=423&gid=1&pgid=618

Did it ever occur to you that the possibility exists if something was improper, it may be an internal policy, and nothing to do with the IHSAA. Remember, the article was about improper recruiting violations, and the word out there says that the player was cleared by the IHSAA and the transfer was legit.

If there is an internal issue with school policy, then that is something totally different from what the article alleges. So, please, do a project to discredit the sources that went crying to the IHSAA and the Times because someone did not end up at their program.

  5. then the word on the street must be false... i did, after all, say it was just that. Maybe The Times should follow up with the state to clear everything up then.

  6. I am not slamming anyone.. Noll is not stooping to any schools level. They all are doing something which is fully legitimate to help their programs survive... Noll, Andrean, MC Marquette, Mt. Carmel, and so forth... they all recruit students.. and yes, some are also athletes, but they are still a potential student.

As for the comment of Garyville... that is where they are located, on the border of Merrillville and Gary. I can remember when I was in high school, it was known as Gary Andrean. I guess there was some sort of Annexing or something that now has Andrean located in Merrillville, not Gary. Nevertheless, they can still recruit with the best of them....

  7. Hey Mr Hanlon,
Apparently you wrote this article based on a tip from a source who was bitter about this transfer for whatever reason, so why not follow up with the IHSAA for an update....

Newsflash... the word out on the street is that the IHSAA has concluded their investigation, and the transfer of Lamous Brown has been determined fully 100% legitimate, and therefore, he has been cleared to participate in the Bishop Noll basketball program

So I guess that everyone who believed solely what was written, and did not have the common sense to think that there was more to the story than you read, should have waited for all facts before judging the situation based solely on the garbage written in the article....

As for the times writer, maybe you should do a bit more homework before writing a story like this. Why would you take the word of a coach to comment on transcripts being sent? coaches have nothing to do with this, it is handled by the administrative team of the school. This guy did not even have his facts straight.. "I think he transferred in August...

Lastly, why not include what bitter basketball program in NW Indiana reported this garbage to the IHSAA and sent you the false information so you could have a "scoop". I think it would be interesting to have you write about the program that was so bitter because Lamous did not choose to play for their program and transfer to their school. One can only wonder if their school is coincidentally a Charter School that majors in Basketball....

  8. You people that are crying the Bishop Noll illegally recruits need to get a clue.
First of all, everyone who says all these schools recruit are absolutely correct. Bishop Noll is not a State Funded Charter School, but a school that is totally funded by tuition and self generated funds. Therefore, you MUST recruit to function. Sure some of the students that are recruited are also athletes, but those of you who name 3 students that were also athletes at noll, why aren't you also naming all the students that were recruited, never played a sport, and graduated with honors from BNI. Private schools recruit students, athletes and non athletes.

I wonder how many of you were there to claim Griffith illegally recruited Kenny Harris when he left Bishop Noll... Oh yeah, i forgot, they moved so he had to go there... right!! That was OK because it was a student athlete leaving Noll... How many of you gave Noll credit for turning the other cheek and not even filing a complaint to the IHSAA, even though everyone knew there was much more to the story than a geographical move..

Lastly, is it just coincidence that all these outstanding athletes from porter and lake county pass up the opportunity to attend the university\ies of Munster, Merrillville, Lake Central, Crown Point, Valpo and Chesterton to attend little ole Andrean HS in Garyville, IN? Wake Up People.... Recruiting is a part of Private School survival...
