The next few comments is in no way to insult individuals who have previously dedicated time and effort to Hobart Soccer but is to point out details about the program. Hobart soccer has never been a powerhouse in boy's high school soccer or youth soccer, however there have been exceptions, i.e. early 2000s when Hobart won DAC. Hobart HS boys soccer had always been a team that played the full 80 minutes and gave it their all. In reality, for the program to be turned around and go back to a 6 win per season program, or better, the players need to step up and begin to train, play as much as they can, play out of season on higher skilled teams, etc. This is called dedication and it is very difficult to start and maintain, but easy to say you will do it. For any coach to apply for this difficult task of turning around a program that has had a tradition of being below average, as of recent times be one of the bottom of the table programs, should be given respect, whether you like them as a person/coach or not. He/she should be allowed to demonstrate whether or not he/she will succeed before the personal attacks or negativity starts. Also, being successful is measured differently per team per year and this should be decided by the players and coaching staff, not the fans and parents. That being stated the parents should be involved and push their kids in fulfilling their commitment, whatever that is.
First, I would like to say good luck to all of the players this year, it is a long hard road ahead for you guys to achieve on the pitch success. Also, I would like to say congratulations to John Hutchins and good luck in your new coaching endeavor.
As for mak220, you are entitled to your opinion about your thoughts about Hobart soccer or the coaching. You indicated that Coach Hutchins is a poor coach and based on Hobart's results the last 3 years, only 1 win, that they are doomed to repeat the same lack of success. Well the last time I checked the varsity squad is coached by the head coach not the jv coach. Also, the results are directly related to the head coach therefore Coach Hutchins has a record of 0-0-0 and the potential to be successful which depends on his coaching. But mainly depends on the players dedication, talent of players and parents making sure their children show up for practice / do things on their own; if these things don't happen then the coach, no matter how qualified i.e. Jerry Yeagley, will not be able to produce on field success. Also, you should never bring religion to the equation. In addition, to attack someone or that person's family is uncalled for and unjustifiable, especially in this case. Then you bring up how you are being attacked as a woman and yet you attempt to insult a male by addressing him as Ms...my assumption is that feminists all over the world would be offended by this action. Next you talk about family and being a mother, well if this is how you treat others then I can only assume your children are potentially very disrespectful to their peers and adults which is a direct result of your actions (parenting skills as well) you have demonstrated. Of course this is my opinion and I could be incorrect about this assumption but I probably am not. Unfortunately, this comment is longer than I intended but I had to point out some things about the very opinionated, verbally attacked, victim of sexism and gender-ism who was bullied into standing up for herself by typing the initial and the numerous additional inaccurate and potentially character damaging comments about someone who is going to try to bring a positive change to a program that could benefit from it at this juncture. Good luck with your continuous criticizing from behind your computer, very easy to criticize when there is no accountability. It takes a more decent person to be able to put themselves out there to be complimented or criticized, i.e. head coach of any varsity sport from any high school.
