  4. A 1.5% personal income tax (companies and corporations are exempt) is projected to raise more than $90 million. Yet, the county said it only needed to borrow $15 million for the budget. So shouldn't an income tax be somewhere around 0.02%. Nothing like greed in Lake County politics.

  8. A non-issue for the welfare people? Not really. The County Council and the County Commissioners know where most of their votes come from. Gary, Hammond and East Chicago. It's like how Calumet Township operates,

    "Vote for me, I'll take care of you. Don't want to work? Forget about it. There's plenty of schnooks in Lake County who go to work everyday, raise their families, pay their bills and taxes. We'll get THEM to pay your way."
