  1. Dual enrollment is a joke. The preparedness of the student is a total crapshoot, dependent on the whim of the high school instructor.

  2. Wow... great example of a PUC graduate. No wonder the school is in trouble. You must have had the everybody-gets-an-A professors, of which there are many.

  3. Except that Daniels isn't doing these cuts. It's the admins who put the school in the bind to begin with.

  5. PUC is no longer considered a commuter campus. Below is the PUC strategic plan, in which this is explained.

  6. Um... Indiana has community college, too. It's called Ivy Tech.

  7. Not only are class sizes growing exponentially, but also classes will be taught by faculty not qualified to teach some of the classes. A high number of full-time non tenure and tenure track faculty are being cut, which means that tenure and tenure track faculty who specialize in one area are being assigned classes in topics where they have no experience and no skills.

  8. Anyone who thinks that any higher education entity is not for-profit needs a reality check.
Ethically, no, it shouldn't be for-profit, but in reality, believe me, they are.

  9. The admins have bloated salaries comparable to the admins at West Lafayette, which obviously is a much larger school. One former admin in particular, who allowed another former admin to drain the instructional budget with a bunch of ill-fated special projects that went nowhere, has been rewarded with a cushy six-figure semi-retirement lifestyle in which the former admin pretty much does nothing but teach a couple of classes. If Daniels does anything, I hope it's to take a metaphorical machete to the overly inflated administration population and staff.

  10. Why is nobody asking where the money went? Four million dollars cannot be explained away by decreases in enrollment and federal/state funding. How about eliminating some of the administrators who helped cause the deficit and using their six figure salaries to pay for Riley?
