I'm There

  1. I am one of the "whiny teachers" that some of you are commenting about on here and I was at this school board meeting. Being the NWITimes they of course wrote only about the comments teachers made about being upset over the administration raises. What everyone needs to know is that it is MUCH more than the money. This administration does not value the teachers in this district. That was the message the teachers were trying to get across. Some points to consider: 1. Teachers agreed to add 45 UNPAID minutes to their working day to provide FREE tutoring to our most at risk kids 2. My classroom is cleaned 2 days per week. I clean it the other 3 days. I do it so I don't have a lice outbreak like what happened at one of our schools this year and to try to fend off the flu bugs going around. 3. Due to teacher cuts we have upwards of 27-30 kindergartners in classrooms....TOO MANY of YOUR kids in one room if you ask me! 4. If you read this article the administration and the school board said that they gave these raises to retain these people because if they did not they were afraid they would go elsewhere. Why aren't they worried about the classroom teachers going elsewhere? Do they not value what we do for the KIDS everyday? Are these select 11 people the reason that LC is one of the top performing schools in the state? Does Bill Ledyard teach the kids? Rob James? Angie Szyemborski? The Deans? NO, the only one who has a direct educational impact on the students is Liz DeVries, so in reality she is the only one who deserves the money! (and no I am not her or even know her). The point of this whole thing was that teachers would like a thank you, a hey we really value you and what you do for the students. Is that too much to ask? It costs them NOTHING!

  2. Do your kids go to an LC elementary school? And if so please say which one......I am an elementary teacher in the district and I can tell you that we DO NOT work 8:30-3:00. As a matter of fact our contracted hours are 7:20-3:20. If your child's teacher is an hour and ten minutes late then you really should call Dr. Veracco and let him know, although I would doubt what you say is true about the hours. As for posting on FB or Pinterest, teachers have a 30 minute UNPAID lunch and if they chose to post on FB or whatever using their own cell phones or tablets then so be it. If they sat at their desk and read a book would you have a problem with that? You really either need to put up or shut up!!
