Reinaldo Figueroa deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison, but unfortunately he won't even get a sentence close to that. He stole the life of a young man who just brought new life into our world, and will get away wtih only a slap on the wrist. To Franklin's mom, you don't deserve to read the ignorant comments that others will leave. You've been through enough. I hope you can find peace, and I hope nothing but the absolute best for your family, especially Franklin's daughter.

Failure to attend to the fleas constitutes as neglect. If this lady can not care for herself-- water being disconnected (not only temporarily, but for two months), and living in animal feces -- Who, in their right mind, would sit here and tell me that she is capable of caring for SEVENTEEN animals?

What if we look at this from a legal view, instead of focussing the depression? The city ordinance for our city states that in a residence there can be no more than four animals, six months or older.

Black Cat, the difference here is that you got your beloved kitties help with their infestation. The lady in the article did not seek help, she let her animals suffer with the fleas to the point of losing their fur. Had this problem not been taken care of sooner, they could have died from the fleas.

She could not afford her ten dogs or seven cats. Depression does not change that fact. Why are we all so blinded by the fact that if she only had one animal, or two, that this was all unlikely to escalate to this? Was she too depressed to realize she had too many animals in her hosue? I'm certain she must have been too depressed to count to seventeen.

This is about the animals, not the depression.

I wasn't saying they are being killed. I was stating that simply because a dog looks happy does not imply the condition of their well-being.
