  1. "I used to ride my 4-wheeler over there from Hebron, everyone who owns dirt-bikes and 4-wheelers do. It's not like this man could have stopped the boys from riding there unless he was on the property at the time and told them to leave." **************Are you serious? You are the perfect example of what's wrong with people (especially spoiled brat children) today. You believe you are entitled to do what you want, when you want and where you want regardless of whether your actions may be harming someone else or if your actions are legal! You were TRESPASSING!, which is ILLEGAL! Just because you think everyone does it does not make it right! It isn't your property, you did not have permission to be there, and you knew it was wrong, but did it anyway! Talk about selfish! I feel badly for the landowner who had a trespasser die on his property. The landowner has every right to tell the family not to put a memorial on his land. Too bad mom didn't ask any questions before allowing her son to take the truck and the dirt bikes. Mom should have asked where he was going and IF he had PERMISSION to ride there. Her son may still be alive had she bothered to find out what his plans were.

  2. County jobs are only available in Lake County if you are a relative or politically connected friend. If they can't get approval for an "Employee", they simply pay you 10X the amount and call you a "Consultant".

  3. In what universe do most Lake County employees work 40 hours? The ones who work for the Courts are supposed to work 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but most leave at 4:00 pm because they claim they don't take their 2 allowed 15 minutes breaks (which they really do and more, but apparently the bosses don't care). They also get an hour lunch, so they only work 7 hours/day x 5 days/wk = 35 hours! Most Porter County employees work 37.5 hours (8-4:30), NOT 32.5 as stated. Once again, an accurate story form the Times (NOT!).

  4. Let's not forget that it's the politicos of the Big 3 who are pushing for the Lake County Income Tax. They are not willing to cut any of their friends and relatives off their payrolls, so they expect the rest of the county to pick up the tab. They get millions in casino dollars every year and still beg for more because they are unwilling to cut the bloat out of their budgets. I cannot wait to move out of this he##hole called Lake County, Indiana.

Here is the link to the recipe when it was originally published in the Times: http://www.nwitimes.com/lifestyles/columnists/philip-potempa/all-s-fair-at-monthly-book-event/article_2ff19f6a-cd09-5972-9a06-3ebf81bd5804.html. No one should have to pay for something that was previously available for free and still is available for free via a quick search of the Times archives.

  6. Definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle black! Jesse, you wrote the law that created your judicial position and convinced the the governor to just hand you the job with NO election and NO merit selection! You, of all people, have no right to complain about anyone using politics to get their way because you are the POSTER CHILD for political favors! Besides, it is well known that merit selection is just that in name only. The committee composed of politically connected individuals picks the 3 most politically favored contestants and the one who has the most politically influential friends is declared the winner by the governor. That is the ONLY way most of the Lake County appointed Judges could ever get the position. It certainly has NOTHING to do with experience or knowledge!

  9. The Family Christian Center may lose its assets, but I bet the Munsey's assets are all protected and can't be touched. I bet they have it so no one can reach their million dollar homes, fancy cars, etc., even though the church (ie the blind sheep followers) is the one who really paid for them. No surprise there.
