  1. "Taxes may have to be raised or services cut as a result. " Cut and pasted from your post. I don't know any Illinois Democratic politician who when talking about "maybe" raising taxes doesn't then go and do it - i.e., Stroger, Quinn, Madigan, Blago, I could go on forever. It's their little politician speak for get ready suckers.

  2. EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! Candidate Sciackitano threatening to cut services unless taxes are raised! And all this PRIOR to being elected!

TAXES WILL HAVE TO BE RAISED OR SERVICES CUT!!!! Brought to you by the sponsors of the Progressive Action Party and Don Sciackitano.

Or, you can vote for Lansing Village Party who in the last four years with Lansing on the verge of financial disaster, were able to make the unpopular but necessary choices that put taxpayers first.

  3. BINGO! It's finally out there in the open for all to see. TAXES MAY HAVE TO BE RAISED OR SERVICES CUT. Thank you Progressive! This is what most anyone with half a brain knew - make promises for the insiders and expect taxpayers to take the hit. Why was Abbott and Company able to get rid of $3 million deficit in refuse plus another $1.2 million in unpaid bills without raising taxes? Because he had the guts to make unpopular choices. Your own words Progressive, Donnie will not be able to do that---- I repeat - "TAXES MAY HAVE TO BE RAISED OR SERVICES CUT". Right from the mouthpiece of the Progressive Action Party. Thanks Donnie! Don't forget this folks come April 9th! Not only does the park district want some more taxpayers hard earned money, but Don Sciackitano is giving you fair warning he will be inside your pockets too!

  5. Take a deep breath Heads Up! Don't worry, if the horrible happens on Tuesday, the joke will be on Don and Dan. They are living this dream that they will bring back the good old days of CAP reign with their grubby fingers in the taxpayers pockets for themselves and the other good old boys. Those days are gone but they don't know it. Gone are the days of opposition FOIAing records without really knowing what to ask for and getting no information because the FOIA didn't have the exact name of the report - even though it was obvious to anyone what was being asked for. Gone are the days when FOIAing salaries and getting just salaries but not realizing that if someone wants to hide other income, the accounts payable area would have to be FOIAed too. That was a standard practice that CAP used for years. People now know how to see the true state of village finances - how to see what funds have been borrowed against and for what, how much they are in the hole for, etc. They now are aware of what to look for in regards to village borrowing and what the true cost of the debt is to taxpayers. They now know true pension figures and the reports needed to keep an eye on unfunded obligations. Insurance rosters have been cleaned up and now are obvious as to who belongs on them and who doesn't, and even more important, who has paid. And finally, as a true check, this current Administration came to work with the Better Government Association (BGA) not as adversaries but as partners in attempting to rid sweetheart deals for certain people to the detriment of the taxpayers. I would think they would have no problem exposing any shady dealings that should arise with the unsavory characters who have thrown money at the Sciackitano campaign for I'm sure, soon to be learned promises. So, take a breath and go outside and enjoy this beautiful Sunday. I think Don and Dan should be the ones concerned that their plot to regain control and get their hands back into the taxpayers pockets won't be the walk in the park they are remembering from days of old!

  6. I'll disagree with you on that one. Greg probably just showed up very late, if at all, and just printed the press release handed to him.

  7. What a great point you have brought up. Lansing has had a rich history in people being involved through volunteering. Meals on Wheels, the Lansing Food Pantry, the Patty Leach Youth Center. The Youth Center really showed what coming together as a community with no expectations can bring about. The Village for the past few years has had an award dinner for volunteers who have worked tirelessly throughout the year. They all just go about doing what needs to be done with no whining about what's in it for me or this inclusiveness garbage that PAP seems to be pushing. Want to be included? Get involved in your community and help others.

  8. Progressive and Pals - If Don Sciackitano is truly so diverse, why did they feel the need to have a photoshop photo on yesterday's mailing? Who the he$$ are those people? "We ALL Support the PAP!" Well good for them - but too bad for Don there isn't one Lansing registered voter in the bunch. They could have had a picture of all of his true supporters - the Eishas, Podgorskis, Angels, amoung others...... maybe now I know why the photoshop photo - his campaign literature would have shown a picture full of past CAP party supporters who when in office for over 20+ years really didn't do anything to "diversify" but did use the village as their own private employment agency for family and insiders.

  9. You have hit the nail right on the head. How many times have they announced they need people for committees and no one comes around. If John F Kennedy was alive today and said his quote of "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" he'd be laughed right off the podium with people today. And the Progressive Action Party with Don Sciackitano and friends just feed that type of what's in it for me type mentality. I bet the 99.99% long-time Lansing residents, all they want is their garbage to be picked up, streets plowed when it snows, and have a cop or fireman come within a reasonable amount of time when needed. If any have been in the village hall - it's once a year to get the village sticker. No one I know of ever went around expecting anything from the other taxpayers in town. And now people are coming in and Donnie and Friends are playing this game of "Awww, the big bad village hasn't included you, vote for us and we will" type of BS. How stupid the rest of us have been to just go to work and pay our taxes and just want to be left alone. Well old Donnie should be made to practice what he and his friends are preaching should he be elected. His wife Julie should be immediately laid off and her position given to a Latino for Rivera's people and there is a certain other family with brother and sister at PW - one of them should immediately be replaced with someone of Timothy Williams' choosing. The "inclusiveness" should start at the top.

  10. Violated campaign finance laws? Please give examples and tell what laws have been broken? Seeing that they don't accept outside contributions and all their reports have been filed in a timely manner and no one has forged anyone's signature (like some paperwork showing three different signatures for Don Sciackitano) would love to see what was improper. Shady characters? Why would your own trustee candidate work for a "shady" character? Another one with principles for sale? Why would your whole slate be cozying up with Zuccarelli - that is until he came out in no uncertain terms he was endorsing Abbott. How strange not to be endorsing his own employee. You seem to be totally ignorant of Lansing so let me clue you in... Donne Trotter is the State Senator whose district includes Lansing. Mr. Trotter was able to recently bring to Lansing a grant of $675,000 which will be used for street repairs and the like. It's a good thing too because that fund had almost been depleted through the financial mismanagement and/or ineptness of your campaign manager in his 8 years at the helm of Lansing. I just looked back at the posts. No one critized Sciackitano for associating with Bloom Township. Again, I think your ignorance of Lansing is showing as part of Lansing is in Bloom Township. The $6,500 campaign contribution didn't come from the Bloom Township Organization. It came from an organization out of Chicago Heights - that was what is so questionable. And as you brought it up - perhaps you can answer why would an organization out of Chicago Heights give him $6,500? What has been promised? Why would Scott Cohen who ran for Lt Governor in the State of Illinois, give an undertaker in a small south suburban town of 29,000 people a contribution of $10,000 plus hire him as a consultant? That sounds normal to you? I asked these questions from Mr. Progressive but he seems to be on vacation.
