I manage a local specialty sporting goods store. When one of the national sporting goods chain stores opened near us all we heard (and still continue to hear) is "Well, your price is the same as theirs, we'll just buy it there then.) WTH? What sense does that make? I want to tell those customers go there and spend two hours with a sales person - if you can find one - one who doesn't know half of what I have forgotten about the product, and ask them why their price isn't lower than ours because their chain buys in larger quantities than us? While you are there, ask them if they'll donate something for your son's Cub Scout pack, or your daughter's softball team, or sponsor a poker run for someone with cancer and see if they what they say.
Folks, I have never heard anybody say they were extremely happy with the service they receive at Walmart, Target, or any other box store for the matter. Why patronize a store where you are just another face in an endless sea of customers? We should all reward local business owners as many of them provide our communities with jobs that pay REAL living wages that can support families which in turn support our community!
