  1. You've got to be kidding me! This group launched itself about a month ago, and it has the power to even propose what amounts to the rape of "My" beach? Huh? There are alternatives that could be proposed. If I could think of them, so could others. Why don't you put forms at the Portage beach that the actual residents/taxpayers could leave their suggestions on? I mean don't we have enough empty motels/hotels already in existence? I'm absolutely positive that in order to get more rooms filled on a consistent basis, those hotels would not only provide shuttles to/from anywhere on the dunes. Some of them may easily be enticed to go pick up "over nighters" in Chicago..That way, there is less car traffic and damage to the dunes. No need for a parking lot if visitors are shuttled, less cement, and more plants/grasses, and dunes. Don't forget that if we fill the hotels we have, they'll have to hire more locals to deal with more people. We get jobs, not some outside corporations, who'll bring in their own employees. I think it's time to take care of those establishments that have stuck with us. I'd rather the beach remain our secret, now that words out, I probably won't go anymore. Shame really
