The expressway in Portage was closed due to an accident and 5 salt trucks salted over and over. Accident on Rt. 20 on hill had all lanes closed. Many many multiple car crashes between Portage and Cline Avenue but the side streets were fine. It was a mess this morning.

Portage has too many steak houses and fast food. It would be nice to have at least one nice buffet or family style restaurant in Portage. I get really tired having to drive to Merrillville or Michigan City.

My Dad raced there in the early 70's and now he has his fond memories of the times he won and likes to reminisce. He attends every car show he can and travels to Joliet, Indy, and 41 but if US 30 Dragstrip should re-open he would be there. Build it and they will come.

People need to slow down and be aware. I know the physician and nurse that treated the truck driver at the scene and it was a very difficult situation. They did a great job. I hope the truck driver recovers from his injuries. If the police car was in the road (ever so little) I believe that would have been the pre-cursor to the accident. If you pull someone over please get off the road.
