Imaging that, a Democrat blaming the news media for exposing waste and fraud in a government program. Just one more reason to eliminate the township level of government.

The colonists did not object to paying taxes, they objected to being taxed without representation before the government. That is hardly the case here. In addition, the county income tax funds country government while Section 8 is a federal program. So I doubt you can make a logical connection between the two, but try if you would like.

While I have great memories of River Oaks of 45 years ago, and of Sears of old, the facts are that most malls are suffering what has befallen River Oaks and Sears is hardly a shell of what it once was. I doubt that Sears and K-Mart are going to be anything more than memories within 10 years

In the 1970s and 1980s those responsible for running the Gary Airport were talking about the promise and prestige that the airport brought to the city. Fast forward 3 or 4 decades and the same conversations and promises are being made. The undeniable fact is that with the Chicago airports in such close proximity the airport will very likely never be any type of viable commercial airport so to keep throwing millions of tax dollars every year at this venture does not make any economic sense. Those tax dollars could do a lot of good for the citizens of Gary if spent on infrastructure and human services.

The Indiana Supreme Court got this correct. It is a retroactive punishment. Let's say that you had a traffic ticket of some type 20 years ago and went to court and paid a %50 fine. Now the legislature decided that the offense you were convicted of carries a $5000 fine and anyone ever convicted of that offense has to pay the new fine. And before all of those who are going to go ballistic with my post - it is not a defense of Mr Gonzalez of his crime merely stating that retroactive punishment is unconstitutional.

And the corruption in most of Lake County is not a fairly recent thing. Growing up in Gary in the 50's and 60's it was a well known fact that if you needed anything from government you needed to take care of your precinct committeeman. Also, remember Mayor Cha-Cha and his serving time in a federal prison for bribery and corruption?

Perhaps if you were to acquire decent writing skills your post could be taken seriously. And your forum name is humorous as Gov Daniels was ineligible to run for another term, so he is very soon to be ex-governor and Mr Bennett lost his election and is moving on to Florida, as you say. I find it ironic however that Florida was quick to hire Mr Bennett, so perhaps his theories and methodologies are not as poor as you think they are. Also, it would be interesting to discover what, if any, ties you have to public education in Indiana.
