- I am absolutely disgusted at the way this family has been treated over trying to provide a safe environment for their son to practice shooting hoops in hopes of following in his dad's footsteps playing basketball. Let's review the issue of safety. In our neighborhood, people drive on average 20 miles over the speed limit. When children are playing sports in a driveway and a ball rolls out into the street, in the heat of the moment do you think they are going to think about that car that is driving 50 mph in a 20 mph. Most often we hear of young men whose dads are not even in the picture and they fall into the vicious circle of violence and troubled youth. How often do you hear of a dad that goes to bat for their son in this day and age, much less neighbors that will also go to bat for a family. This should have never been an issue to begin with. We hear of how "America" needs to get off the couch. This is absolutely a "no-brainer". City council, you need to pass this thing. Are you really going to crush a young boy's dreams?
